Marzocchi Motor on the podium of the Parigi Dakar Rally

The Cagiva Elefant mounted the Marzocchi Motor suspension

At the 12th edition of the Parigi Dakar  the Cagiva Elefant team faces the race with Edi Orioli, Alessandro “Ciro” DePetri and the Spaniard Jordi Arcarons. The competition sees two Elefant placed in the first three places, with Orioli on top of the podium.

The engine is a Ducati 904cc with Weber-Marelli electronic injection, air and oil cooled, five-speed gearbox, electric start. The frame is derived in the structure from that of the competing and now winning Dakar bikes and is the real strong point of this new evolution of the motorcycle, which can be divided into two parts to allow easier disassembly of the engine and combined with the Marzocchi Motor suspensions 43mm gives the Elefant of the new series agility and ease of driving both on the road and on dirt roads: the best in class exponent of the category for dynamic characteristics.

Five years of sacrifices, disappointments and missed victories by a whisker seemed a more than acceptable price for the enormous satisfaction and the image that can give a Dakar Rally victory.
